Tan-Y-Graig

Tan-Y-Graig means “below the rock” – the rock in this case being a large hill that has iron age forts on top. At this point we have a passing station on the WR single line from Pwhelli to PD. As well as the two lines for trains to cross, it has a central line that houses banking engines for the trip to PD a single line goods line and two industries; a milk depot for loading milk tankers, and a gunpowder plant (Nobel process) for making blasting caps for the slate industry (including the mine at Nantlle).
